Maury City is a small eastern-Tennessee town located in Crockett County. As of 2016, Maury City was home to about 670 people according to the United States Census Bureau. The town is located 80 miles north of Memphis, Tennessee and 30 miles west of Jackson, Tennessee.

Before individuals settled in the area where Maury City is located in the early 1800s, the territory was inhabited by Native American Indians. Eventually, European-Americans arrived. According to the best available information, the territory of present-day Crockett County was not home to any religious organization. The circuit rider of Jackson Methodist Church began to preach in the area which helped spark the construction of a place of worship in 1830. The building was used by all denominations during that time. In 1876, Maury City was formally established and became incorporated in 1911.

Although Maury City has remained small in size, residents are provided with many modern-day amenities and a good quality of life. Maury City has two schools, a primary and an elementary school, a ballfield, city park, and tennis courts. The town is also home to a medical clinic. Because of the hard work performed by government and community members, Maury City is poised for growth and success.
